WANTED: VOLUNTEERS!

The Mekong Media Forum seeks volunteers who wish to become part of this unique event, be they students or professionals or individuals interested in the region and/or in media issues.
Volunteers would have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the organisation and success of the Forum. They would bring genuine local and regional flavor to it, meet new people with similar interests from the six Mekong countries, and share their media, organisational and language skills as well as learn new ones.
Volunteers based in Chiang Mai, Thailand are welcome.
Click here and here (Thai version) to download the Volunteer Application Form, which must be emailed by Oct. 10, 2009 to: secretariat@mekongmediaforum.net. If needed, the Forum secretariat may request additional information from applicants.
The Forum invites volunteers with the following background and skills to apply:
-At least 18 years of age
-Ability to speak and understand basic English and/or any other Mekong language (Burmese, Chinese, Khmer, Lao, Thai and Vietnamese)
-Good people and service skills
-Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting and has team spirit
-Willingness to keep flexible schedules and openness to different kinds of work
-Availability to take part in an orientation before the Forum
Volunteers may take on the following support roles:
-assistants to the registration, organisation, communication and special events committees
-assistants at information/help desks
-technical and logistical assistance during workshops
-secretariat assistants
-ushers at events
-assistants in setting up and changing exhibits and film showings
FOR DONATING YOUR TIME AND SKILLS…
While volunteers will not receive compensation, they will receive training, recognition and experience in being part of a media event that is quite different from other media and Mekong conferences.
For donating their time and sharing their skills, volunteers will get:
-a certificate of participation and appreciation after satisfactory assistance to the event and written references (if requested)
-free registration to the Forum
-free meals and refreshments during the Forum days
The Forum will not be able to shoulder travel, accommodation expenses and per diem for volunteers.
